Local Councillor brightens up Care Home for Christmas!
Ian Parker - 19 December 2022
Residents and staff at Byron Lodge Care Home in Rotherham, part of the We Care Group, are having a truly brighter Christmas this year thanks to a kind donation from their local councillor.
William Senior, who has been working as Activities Co-ordinator at the home since September was looking at ways to help the residents have an extra special Christmas this year. As a result, William got in touch with Cllr David Roche, local councillor for Hoober Ward, and completed a form to apply for funding for some external Christmas tree lights to brighten up the two conifer trees at the front of the home. His application was successful and the two trees now look fabulous.
William Senior said “I love working at Byron Lodge and just wanted to do something to brighten up Christmas for our residents.” He continued “I was amazed when I found out my application for funding had been successful and everyone who visits the home pass comment on how wonderful the trees look.”
Helen Baston, Manager at Byron Lodge, part of the We Care Group said “Since William joined the team, he has looked at a number of ways to improve the health and well-being of residents and we were delighted when he told us that he had applied for the funding and been successful.” She continued. “We’d like to say a massive thank you to Councillor David Roche for his generous donation. Everyone at the home is delighted with the results.”
Bernie Suresparan, Executive Chairman, We Care Group said “We’d like to than Cllr David Roche for his kind donation towards the home, it is little kind touches like this that make Christmas that ‘extra special’ for our residents.”
