Sowerby House Care Home receives 5 Star Food Hygiene Rating

The team at Sowerby House Care Home, which is part of the We Care Group, is celebrating following their recent inspection from the Food Standard Agency which has awarded them with a ‘Five Star Food Hygiene Rating’,
A score of zero to five, food hygiene ratings are given to food handling businesses, which includes care homes, after an inspection has assessed how well they comply with food safety laws.
Inspectors from the Food Standard Hygiene visited Sowerby House Care on 17th July 2023 and found the hygienic food handling as well as management of food safety to be very good within the home. They also found the cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building to be good. As a result, the home has received the highest rating of ‘Five Stars’ rating them overall as ‘Very Good’
The team works incredibly hard to provide residents with a wonderful varied menu, with all meals prepared with fresh, locally sourced, seasonal produce and based on the individual tastes and dietary needs of the people we support. It prides itself on its varied menu which will satisfy even those with the smallest of appetites; from breakfast through to dinner, residents can discover something different with fresh flavours and lovely, well-presented meals, creating new and exciting dishes for everyone to enjoy, as well as freshly based cakes for afternoon teas.
Marie Adams, Manager at Sowerby House said “It is wonderful to once again receive a 5 Star Rating from Food Standards Agency, which is testament to the hard work of all the team in ensuring that we are delivering good quality nutritional food to our residents.” She continued “Earlier this year we worked in partnership with North Yorkshire Council Quality Team to understand the importance of good hydration which has had a positive impact within the home reducing them number of falls and infections for residents and given them added independence.”
