One of our Residents Celebrates 104th Birthday!
Edna Ball, resident at Old Gates Care Home in Blackburn, which is part of the We Care Group has recently celebrated her 104th birthday at the home.
Edna, who was originally from Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, was born on 5th October 1919 and played a part in the Second World War in the Women’s Auxilary Air Force, know as the WAAF as a telephonist. During her lifetime there have been 22 Prime Ministers and 5 different Monarchs.
After the war, Mrs Ball had several jobs, including working in factories and shops, before retiring to look after her only daughter Karen Stevens, full time.
She celebrated her special day with staff and residents with a special ‘Afternoon Tea’ and was delighted to blow out all her candles.
