At We Care Group, we’ve always known we have something special. Our team members are more than just employees – they are passionate, dedicated, and truly remarkable individuals who put their heart and soul into caring for others. Today, we are incredibly proud to announce that six of our outstanding staff members have been named finalists in the Great British Care Awards (GBCA) North West regional final!

This prestigious recognition speaks volumes about their hard work, compassion, and commitment to delivering exceptional care to those who need it most. And the good news doesn’t stop there – We Care Group itself has been shortlisted for The Care Home Employer Award!

The North West regional final will take place on Saturday, 9th November, and we couldn’t be more excited to cheer on our fantastic team. Let’s take a moment to celebrate each finalist and show them our support as they prepare for this well-deserved recognition.

Amanda Jepson – The Dementia Carer Award

Amanda’s work in dementia care at Old Gates Care Home has been nothing short of extraordinary. With a deep understanding of the unique challenges that come with dementia, she approaches every individual with empathy, patience, and a personal touch that makes all the difference. Her creativity and warmth have transformed the lives of residents, providing comfort and reassurance in their most vulnerable moments. Amanda’s dedication has touched countless hearts, and being a finalist for The Dementia Carer Award is a testament to her remarkable ability to care for those living with dementia with dignity and respect.

Charlotte Cole – The Dignity in Care Award

Charlotte has consistently gone above and beyond in promoting dignity in care, and this nomination for The Dignity in Care Award reflects her unwavering belief that every individual deserves to be treated with kindness and respect. Charlotte works tirelessly to ensure that all residents at all our homes at We Care Group feel heard, valued, and empowered, encouraging independence while offering support. Her compassionate approach and fierce advocacy for dignity in all aspects of care have made her a true champion of the people she serves. Congratulations, Charlotte!

Christopher Bunting – The Care Home Cook/Chef Award

They say food is the way to the heart, and Christopher knows this better than anyone! As a finalist for The Care Home Cook/Chef Award, he has wowed residents and staff alike with his culinary skills at Banksfield Nursing Home in Preston, crafting delicious, nutritious meals that cater to a variety of dietary needs. More than just a chef, Christopher takes the time to understand residents’ preferences and uses his talent to create a warm, homely atmosphere where mealtimes are a moment of joy. His dedication to creating meals that are both nourishing and enjoyable is a true gift, and we couldn’t be prouder to see him recognised.

Jessy Gaskell – The Care Home Registered Manager Award

Leading by example, Jessy has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to quality care as a finalist for The Care Home Registered Manager Award. She is not only a skilled manager but also a compassionate leader who fosters a supportive and inclusive environment for staff and residents alike at Mahogany Care Home in Wigan. Jessy’s ability to inspire her team, while ensuring the highest standards of care are met, has made a lasting impact across our organisation. Her dedication to continuous improvement and her nurturing approach to both residents and staff make her an outstanding role model within We Care Group.

Shirley Friday – The Ancillary Worker Award

Every care home needs the essential work of ancillary staff to run smoothly, and Shirley is a shining star in this role. Nominated for The Ancillary Worker Award, Shirley’s hard work and attention to detail ensures that Courtfield Lodge Care Home in Ormskirk remains clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone. Her positive attitude and willingness to go above and beyond for both residents and her colleagues have made her an integral part of the We Care Group family. We are so proud to see Shirley’s efforts celebrated in this way.

Simon Linaker – The Social Care Nurse Award

Simon’s clinical expertise, combined with his deep compassion for the people he serves, has earned him a finalist spot for The Social Care Nurse Award. His dedication to providing the best possible care for residents at Mahogany Care Home is evident in everything he does, from offering medical support to providing emotional reassurance. Simon’s calm, caring nature and his drive to always put the wellbeing of others first has made him a beloved member of our team. We know Simon’s commitment to excellence will continue to shine through.
