Remembrance Day at Sowerby House in Thirsk

At Sowerby House Care Home we have a big knitting and crochet community and as a way to celebrate Remembrance Day, the activities coordinator and some of our ladies knitted several poppies flowers for a special display placed in the home for everyone to see.

Sowerby House will also observe a minute of silence at 11 am on the 11th day. Residents will also be watching the remembrance service on Sunday.

For the home manager Marie Adams it is very important to honour the lives lost, and thank them for their service to the country. Marie comes from a military background, her father served in the Royal Navy and her brother in the British Army. Her husband also served in many conflicts including Kosovo, Afghanistan & Iraq.
