West Kirby Care Home rated ‘Good’ by Care Quality Commission.

Riversdale Care Home in West Kirby, which is part of the We Care Group, is
celebrating having received an overall ‘Good’ rating from the Care Quality
Commission (CQC) following their report published on 1st September 2023.
The inspectors looked at two key questions – was the service ‘safe’ and was it ‘well-
led’. To consider the question of was the service ‘safe’ the inspectors looked for
evidence that people were protected from abuse and avoidance of harm. They also
looked at people’s experience of using this service and their families, who told
inspectors that ‘they felt safe at the home’. One person said “I feel safe here. Staff
are nice to me.” One residents family member told the inspectors about their relative,
“We are not worried about anything here, she is safe”. The inspectors found that
people were safeguarded from the risk of abuse and rated this question good.
Residents praised the approach of staff at the home.
To consider the question as to whether the service is well-led , the inspectors rated
this question ‘good’ meaning the service is consistently managed and well-led and
that the leaders and the culture they created promoted high-quality, person-centred
care. Managers and staff were clear about their roles, and understanding of quality
performance, risks and regulatory requirements. The inspectors said there was a
“warm, friendly, and good-humoured atmosphere at the home. It was clear that
people were relaxed and comfortable; and they had positive relationships with staff
members.”
For those key questions not inspected, was the service caring, effective and
responsive the inspector used the ratings awarded at the last inspection to calculate
the overall rating. The overall rating for the service is now ‘GOOD’.
The team at Riversdale Care Home were delighted to have received an impressive
CQC report that has rated the home as ‘Good’ in all areas, demonstrating that the
home is providing high standards of care for Residents, demonstrating that the home
is Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsible, and Well-Led.
