We said: Staff morale was low, and staff reported they did not feel able to approach management. It was reported that the team would feel that supervisions were used as a punishment rather than a learning and development tool.
A new management team has been formed, bringing a more visible, approachable, and supportive leadership style. Since these changes, team member morale has noticeably improved, with team members reporting increased confidence in raising concerns and sharing ideas. Regular informal check-ins and an open-door policy have been introduced to strengthen communication. In addition, the manager has implemented “Thank You Thursdays”, where team members are recognised weekly for their hard work and dedication. This initiative has been well received and has contributed to a more positive and appreciative working culture. The new Home Manager has also assigned time each week for team members to drop in and have a chat if they are having any issues/ ideas.
As we have residents with dementia, it is crucial to have daily activities that help keep their minds sharp. We focus on the sensory stimulation for our residents, which means we have activities that stimulate their senses (taste, smell, vision, hearing and touch)
